ElliesAlley

I've started a new adventure. My Grandma Morris taught me and my sister to sew when we were 8. We made matching tops and scarves for our 4-H project. Got a blue ribbon by the way. Growing up my Grandma Mellinger would wear an apron everyday over her dress. Both Grandmothers loved to garden, freezing or canning what they grew. And, I consider both of them to be very crafty and creative. Which leads me to my new adventure. I've taken my love of sewing and memories of days gone by and created ElliesAlley.

In my shop https://www.etsy.com/shop/ElliesAlley  you'll find Aprons and Home Decor. I also have a Facebook page www.facebook.com/ElliesAlley .
Please swing by both sites for the latest apron I've sewn or a new recipe and much more. You may not see new posts on the Lindaloo blog but don't worry. Follow me on Facebook, like my page and feel free to comment. The more you do the more you will see my posts in your feed. Or you can always search for ElliesAlley on Facebook. I'm hoping to reach new and old friends so feel free to share my Facebook posts!

Thanks for checking in on me.

Ooey Gooey Butter Cookies

These are my version of the Funetti Butter Cookie you've probably seen on Pinterest. I like to call them Ooey Gooey Butter Cookies. They are the perfect size for little hands or those on a diet. Yes, I know cookies and diet do not go together. But how could you resist these little yummy balls of goodness. They were a huge hit at our 4th of July cookout. I did not use the brand of butter the recipe calls for. I used the Aldi brand of butter. And I used off brand cream cheese and powdered sugar. I did use the Funetti Cake Mix however next time I may use an off brand to see how it goes. You can find the recipe here. They are delicious.

Check back in with me. I want to share a few other ideas for treats and decorating for this summer holiday.

Tip for Zucchini Cake all year around.

Wow, I have been busy and it hasn't been blogging. I'm pretty sad about that but I am happy to be working a temp job.  Anyone can work a job for a short period of time right? Plus this job has been a blessing. I have met new people and learned new skills. The people are great and it is such a pleasant atmosphere to work in.
I do hope to blog soon about that project I worked on the weekend of my birthday. In the mean time a tip for the Zucchini Cake. I had a huge zuchinni and wasn't able to use all of it in the cake AND didn't want it to go to waste. So I shredded it in 2 cup portions and put it in freezer baggies for use later. I made another cake just last week and took it to the office. The girls said it was delicious!
Have a super week and thanks for checking in on me.

Chocolate Zucchini Cake

Chocolate lovers unite! This is the perfect chocolate cake and this is the perfect time of year to use that fresh zucchini out of your garden. My Mom makes this for me on my birthday when we are together. Enjoy!!

Chocolate Zucchini Cake

½ cup soft margarine                      1 tsp baking soda
½ cup vegetable oil                         ½ tsp salt
1 ¾ cup sugar                                     ½ cup cocoa
2 eggs                                           ½ tsp baking powder
1 tsp vanilla                                         ½ tsp cinnamon
½ cup sour milk                                 2 ½ cup flour

2 cups shredded zucchini
1 cup chocolate chips

To make sour milk: 2 tsps lemon juice, fill to ½ cup with milk.

Cream together margarine, oil & sugar. Add eggs, vanilla & milk. Beat with mixer for 2 min. Mix together dry ingredients. Add to cream mix. Beat 3 min. with mixer. Stir in zucchini. Pour into a greased/floured 9X13 pan. Sprinkle chocolate chips on top. Bake at 325 degrees for 40-45 min. For a little added umph, I sometimes sprinkle powered sugar on top.
